As part of her ongoing development as LUA Clinical Nurse Specialist, Roelinda Smith recently spent a week at a Patient Assessment workshop. The course was run by a team of experienced nurses who emphasised the importance of the ‘whole patient’ or holistic approach to medical care. Lectures, role plays and case studies were used to emphasise the importance of accurate and precise history taking and examination. Her new qualification will allow her to pre-assess patients at LUA before they see their urologist and will also improve the service offered to patients before and after surgery.
She will be completing a Degree in Nurse Prescribing in the new year.
