Networking Evening for HIFU Patients

On the 6th November we hosted a Networking Evening for men who had undergone HIFU therapy for prostate cancer. The event was held at the Regents College in Regents Park, central London and was attended by 40 men who had undergone HIFU, consultant Urologists Mark Emberton and Chris Ogden, some of the medical secretaries, both Urology nurses and staff from UKHIFU and Astratech who helped organise the event.

The evening started with an introduction by Mark Emberton, followed by a short presentation and thank you by the nurses. Hashim Ahmed (Clinical Research Fellow at UCLH) then gave a presentation on the current findings and the future of HIFU.

During drinks and a meal, all were invited to mingle and chat.

Some comments from men who attended:

"Many thanks for a very successful evening last night. It was very helpful to meet and discuss other peoples experiences. I look forward to the next one!"

"A note to thank you for organising such a good evening with the opportunity to meet so many different chaps and discuss their experiences on HIFU and to learn of the research and changes that are already happening."

"I would like to thank you and Roelinda for organising the get together last Tuesday evening. It was very interesting to meet others who have had HIFU and to hear of their various experiences ! I understand that a similar meeting is planned for next year - I think this is a very good idea.
It was interesting to hear the speakers with their thoughts of what could happen in the future. Nothing stays the same and it is good to hear that progress is continually being made."

"Thanks for last night – the food was good and so was the company."

"Thank you very much for inviting me to your HIFU open evening.
It was a brilliant idea to meet up with past HIFU patients and
all concerned in your pioneering work, I found it most informative.
The refreshments were very much enjoyed, you must do it again sometime!"
